Power Purchase Agreements for a 150MW Ground Mount Solar project to be developed at the Solar Energy Park, Gonnoruwa, Hambantota was signed yesterday afternoon. The project will be developed by a consortium of 17 local developers, comprising 13 power plants of 10MW and 4 power plants of 5MW making up the total capacity of 150MW. The project with a USD 150 Million investment will be developed together with the transmission & grid facilities under a new business model with the CEBs Standardized Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA). Project aims to commence construction in May 2024 and connect to the Grid by mid 2025.

විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලයේ සම්මත විදුලිය මිලදීගැනීමේ ගිවිසුම යටතේ නව ව්යාපාර ව්යුහයකින් ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 150ක ආයෝජකකින් මෙම ව්යාපෘතිය, එයට අවශ්ය සම්ප්රේෂණ පහසුකම් සහ ජාල පද්ධතිය ද ආයෝජකයා සංවර්ධන කරන බවත් මෙම වසරේ මැයි මසදි ව්යාපෘතියේ ඉදිකිරීම් කටයුතු ආරම්භ කිරීමට බලාපොරොතු වන අතර විදුලිබලය 2025 වසරේ මැද භාගය වන විට ජාතික විදුලිබල පද්ධතියට සම්බන්ධ කිරීමට බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවත් අමාත්යවරයා කීය.

100 MW Ground Mount Solar Project to be developed in Oddamavadi, Batticaloa received the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday. The project was evaluated by the Ministry of Power & Energy from the shortlisted projects on the EOI process advertised and conducted in 2021. The developer has obtained the land clearance, EIA clearance and Energy Permit in 2022 & 2023. The power purchase agreement will be entered with CEB for 20 years. Project development is to commence in 2024 & commissioned in 2025.
A 2 MW Ground Mount Solar Project in Batticalo was opened this morning. The project under the 90 MW CEB tendering process was constructed and commissioned by BackBay Solar Private Ltd.
