Prabakaran who suffers very badly from his critical diabetic condition as well as a gangrened leg, and an injured shoulder needs immediate hospitalization. His diabetic conditions are reportedly fluctuating day to day for lack of proper medical care. Reliable sources revealed that a specialist doctor and a medical team were brought from Tamil Nadu, India to treat him. Asian Tribune learnt that Indian Raw – Research Analysis Wing was aware of the departure of the medical team – illegally leaving by boat to Vanni, but they did not interfere with the departure of the medical team, for some unknown reason.

The aging LTTE Leader Prabakaran – 53 years old, suffers from diabetic and other ailments according to a medical report. Read - Health card of Prabakaran is not so rosy as it ought to be.

Reports emerging from Vanni reveal that Prabhakaran was injured in the shoulder area during the aerial bombing in January. Reports say that the shoulder injury was a new one, but he had an old injury which he sustained in an aerial bombardment in November.

According to the medical team which came from Tamil Nadu to treat Prabhakaran revealed that his leg has been gangrened and it may have to be amputated if proper treatment is not given immediately.

Gangrene - is a complication of necrosis (i.e., cell death) characterized by the decay of body tissues, which become black and malodorous. It is caused by infection or ischemia, such as from thrombosis (blocked blood vessel). It is usually the result of critically insufficient blood supply (e.g., peripheral vascular disease) and is often associated with diabetes.

Vanni sources further revealed that Prabhakaran urgently needed hospitalization to treat his leg which gangrened as his diabetics continue to fluctuate. But so far it seems no decision has been made regarding hospitalization. Sources further revealed that taking Prabakaran out of the country for treatment is a big risk factor and decided against such risk.
