* *I was born as an able, healthy person like many others of our society and had a normal, active and above all a very happy life for thirty years...
* *For ten years I worked as a Sub Inspector of Police, mainly serving in the operational areas of the nothern part of Sri-Lanka where a civil war is still going on. I also carried out normal civil duties through which I gathered a lot of experience on investigating different kinds of crimes including murders, robberies and thefts.
* *Life went on smoothly… undisturbed...
* *Then one unexpected and fateful moment turned my life upside down shattering all my hopes and dreams and changing it forever...
* *In 1999 I was the Acting OIC (Officer-In-Charge)at the Crime Detection Bureau-Kotahena. On 23rd October 1999 I was shot accidentally by a misfired gunshot while on duty.
* *Owing to the gun shot my spinal cord was damaged confining me to a wheel chair thereafter.
* *I had to face many challenges and difficulties thereafter both in my personal and professional lives… but finally I have been able to rebuild my life with a new perspective.
