He do this even to his fierce critics in the opposition. I cannot imagine how he knows all those birthdays. Recently he called early in the morning T.M Sanghadasa, well known UNP activist, and wished him on his birthday. Then Sanghadasa elated by this royal wish went on to say that his leader Ranil W. has never wished him like this on his B'day. Last year he wished Mahinda Samarasingha on his B'day just past midnight so mahinda S. had to apprecaite it telling the president did so even before his wife. If Macheawelli was alive he would also endorse this kind of PR for a rular and edit his famous book "The prince" with new additions. A hypocrite would tell that good leaders who are concentrated on the development of their countries and the well being of their people do not have time to waste calling and wishing people they know.
