Ok, places that has wifi provided by dialog (or other providers) uses standard 802.11 (a or b) and you can access those networks using the wifi card in your laptop. Some offers absolutely free access while for others you need to be subscriber of that provider.

To use dialog's wifi you need to be a subscriber or buy a pre paid card (more details here : http://www.dialog.lk/en/internet/corporate_service/wifi.html ).
Connect to the wifi network and try to browse any site and a login page pops up asking for the dialog subscriber details. Enter those and you're allowed to browse using dialog wifi.

Connecting to wifi is pretty easy in windows cause as soon as the card detects a wifi network in range it gives a message saying a wifi network is available. Click on the message and it will connect to the network since these wifi networks are open access networks.

    1. Make Sure Your Laptop/PC/Mobile/PDA have Wifi
    2. Get WISP Accout (Otherwise goto Free Hotspot.. You Can Buy Prepaid Cards for it)

    Suntel WOW Cards -
    200RS - 40MIN
    500RS - 90MIN

    Dialog KIT Cards

    Rs. 100 / - = 1 surfing Hour (Valid for one day*)
    Rs. 250 / - = 2½ Surfing Hours (Valid for two days*)
    Rs. 400 / - = 4 Surfing Hours (Valid for three days*)
    Rs. 1,000 / - = 20 Surfing Hours (Valid for seven days*)

    3. Goto Wifi Hotspot

BIA, SLIIT, DIALOG Arcades, World Trade Center, MC, ODEL, Excel World, McDonalds, Pizza Hut.... Etc. Now Most of Large hotels now have it

    4. Turn Wifi/WLAN Discovery on from your Wifi Enabled Device Then it Will List Current Available Spots.. Connect with one from it

    Eg -
Vista - Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
