Motherboard's SATA controller is VIA VT8237 so it doesnt support SATA 300, only SATA150 @ 1.5Gb/sI bought a Maxtor DiamondMax21 250GB SATA II, because it had a jumper setting for limit it to work with SATA 150.when i connect the disk with jumper set to 300MB/s bios will detect and with drivers installed winXP will also show the device correctly, But i cant format any partition on it. So i cant use it on my PC ! Its same with other OS's like Vista & Ubuntu.without jumper setting BIOS wont even detect the disk.But driver works on other Pc's with SataII. SO what can i do? If i get a pci/usb to sata convertor  will i be able to use it as the main & bootable hard disk?
