They also claim that Prof. Nalin de Silva’s statements and actions ridicule scientific method and has created a very bad impression about the University of Kelaniya in general and the Faculty of Science in particular, among the public and the scientific community. The association has organized a special meeting in the faculty on the 21st morning, engage in a protest walk from the Faculty to the Administrative building and keep away from academic activities on that day.Administrative sections have not taken any steps regarding the unbecoming acts of Prof. Nalin de Silva states the Teachers’ Association and eh intention of eh protest campaign on the 21st is to draw attention of the administrative sections for the issue said Joint Secretary of the Teachers’ Association Prof. Hemanthe Sirisena. 49 academics of the Science faculty of University of Kelaniya had earlier signed a petition against Prof. Nalin de Silva. Also, the Sri Lankan Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) has labeled Professor De Silva as a pseudo scientist. Recently Prof. Nalin de Silva claimed he identified arsenic in rice grown in Sri Lanka through God Natha. He is also accused of maintaining double standards as he criticizes the West and the Western education but has sent his children to the West to obtain higher education. Some also have claimed that Prof. Nalin de Silva should have retired but holds on to the post of Dean of the Faculty. He was born on 20th October, 1944 which means he is 67 years old.</blockquote>
