The Embassy has received reports of approximately 2,000 protestors planning to assemble in front of the Embassy on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at about 9:30 a.m. Demonstrators are expected to deliver a petition to the Embassy protesting U.S. policy towards Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council.
American citizens should closely monitor local media for reports of protests and avoid coming to the U.S. Embassy when there is an ongoing protest in the area. If protests occur outside the Embassy, no one will be permitted into the compound until the protesters have dispersed.
