The Government say the LTTE got stronger during the CFA..that's the main accusation they have for the UNP and especially Ranil. Mind you, The UNP was in power only from December 2001 to March 2004 and that too with the head of state being Chandrika from SLFP. If the CFA was that bad, Chandrika could have easily thrown it away EVEN when UNP was in power. But she didn't. Then came the UPFA to power with a large majority. Where the PM was none other than the present President. And the JVP was in the government, holding ministries, with 39 members in the government!! They were in power from April 2004 to November 2005. If the CFA was so bad and it was making the LTTE stronger, why didn't they throw it away and start the war immediately??? Why did they wait till almost 2007 to start the war??? April 2004 was the best chance for them to make a move on because they had all the powers they wanted with Chandrika being the President and Mahinda the PM. Even when Mahinda became the President in November 2005, did he abolish the CFA and start the war??? No my dear friends...instead he started another round of talks with the LTTE in 2006!!! I just CAN NOT understand how they can say now the CFA and the peace process was such a bad thing that divided the country and made the LTTE stronger!!! When they took the SAME EXACT path that Ranil took from 2002 to 2004, how can they point the finger at Ranil and call him a traitor??? If you look at the facts, Ranil went in that path for ONLY 27 months when these people who are now calling Ranil a traitor went in the SAME path for at least 32 months if not more!!! Funny isn't it my friends?? Whatever Ranil has done, they have done it more..good or bad!!!
Also, if the LTTE got stronger during the CFA, how were we able to fight them off in such a convincing manner and completely destroy them in 2 years, something we couldn't do for a good 25 years?!!! That my friends is because the LTTE actually got weaker during the CFA whereas the Sri Lanka Army got stronger and larger in size. If you just think about the pre CFA era, you would realize how strong the LTTE was. They came and hit our Air Port in 2001!!! They were the ones who were capturing towns and cities in those times!!!
I don't know why people are so blind. The facts are crystal clear and they are right in our faces but still we keep getting brainwashed after seeing the Rupavahini and the ITN!!! This is such a sad sad situation. An innocent man who only wanted to settle the issue peacefully WITHOUT giving the LTTE a separate state is being virtually murdered by the media for taking a stance which even the present President took for longer time period then Ranil himself!!!!!!
