Oya JR, Pemadasa kaale game minissu wadi hariyak UNP. E kaale election waladi SLFP eka hamadaama paradinawa. But they ruled for too long 17 years. and people got fed up. Another main reason for UNP's down turn was their own "Doshabiyogaya(impeachment)" and "Wiswasa banga yojanawa(no confidence motion)" against their own leader Premadasa. Lalith/Gamini got too greedy for leadership posts and they went against Premadasa and they created the "Rajaaliya" party. Then LTTE killed all those UNP leaders. Ranil had patience and he did not go against Premadasa. So he got the leadership. Ever since then UNP is getting beaten. He could not even keep power he won in 2001. He went and signed the ceasefire which was prepared by Chandrika. Because of this CFA he got "Traitor" label.</p></blockquote><p></p>
