Minister of Transport Dullas Alahapperuma has issued a directive to all the Ministry officials including the Minister himself to purchase only the economy class air tickets when they are going abroad.
He has also ordered the relevant officials to hold all the discussions, seminars, workshops etc. of the Ministry in government-affiliated institutes instead of the star class hotels. The Minister highlighted the need of sacrifices as a group now to minimize the economic burden borne by the public.
The new directive is valid for all the institutes that come under the Ministry of Transport.
