Hi Guys/ Gals,

Planning to buy a 500GB SATA model for my data storage since I'm running out of space. (Don't ask what you have so much space consuming..lol)
Anyway I'm little bit confuse which model to go. Do I've to look for SATA II , 32MB cache..etc. Someone has mention 500GB can be brought for Rs 7K. Unity and MC will be the nearest places for me. So any advise and knowledge is welcome.

Two models (actually, families) of interest are,
    1. Samsung Spinpoint F1 500GB
    2. Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB

I don't know if either of them are available at Unity. These are the fastest 7200RPM drive models available yet. My preference is WD, but that doesn't mean Samsung is not good. All these new drives are very reliable. Actually none of the drives have failed upon me since 2003, that's 7 drives. 1 Segate, 1 Maxtor, 5 Samsungs (including the 3 I have in this PC)

I don't think you can buy a 500GB one for Rs.7000 though. Recently a friend bought a 500GB Seagate drive (can't remember the model, it was a 7200.11 irrc). It was Rs.9200 and we thought it was cheap!
