Reduce Hard Disk Usage By Vista !!!!!

First See the free space available in your vista partition.

Then follow these steps......
1. Right click on "My Computer" icon and select "Properties".
2. Select "System Protection" on the left hand side.
3. Wait until windows search "Available Disks" in "Automatic restore points" section.
4. Remove the tick in the box before the Vista System Partition [ Eg. Local Disk (C

(System) ] and Click on the "Apply" button.
5. Then put the tick again in the box and click "OK"

See the free space now and compare with the previous value.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turn off indexing service and it will reduce hard disk usage more!
it can be done in xp too

Another way..

If you want to make the vista sp1 permanent, then you need to run the clean up tool.
It can be found in the Windows/System32 folder...look for VSP1CLN.exe and run it. It gets rid of the backup files sp1 made

Be warned...you cannot uninstall sp1 if you nuke the backup files
