Reinventing the Steel

The new wave of Sri Lankan rock and metal music takes to the stage on the 7th of April at the New Town Hall Theater at ‘Reinventing the Steel.’ The concert featuring CryWolf, Roadkill, Angel Down, Circus Cult and Blood Brothers is scheduled to kick off at 5.00pm and the gates have been announced at 4.30pm.

Lasith Fernando, the front man of Angel Down explains, “’Reinventing the Steel’ was one of those ideas that started as a crazy gleam in our eyes and just took off at a rate. We’re all such great friends and hang out and jam together so much that it just made sense that we got together to start organizing gigs.
“Putting together the concert so far has been a blast because, although we argue and fight like Axl and Slash, at the end of the day what all of us want to do is play our music to as many people as we can and give those people one heck of a theatric experience. The Sri Lankan rock and metal music industry really is ready to take off in a big way and more importantly, we feel Sri Lankan music audiences are ready to start exploring our genres of music. Our big picture for Reinventing the Steel is for it to be a gig that will take things to a whole new level for regular concert goers in terms of stage show, props and lighting, and for it to also be a somewhat easy transition for people who’ve always been curious about, but have never come to a rock or metal gig.”

Tickets for the gig are priced at Rs. 400, but with the help of some very generous sponsors the performing bands have been able to offer tickets for a much lower price for their fans, provided they buy the tickets off any of the band members.
