Remove the sidebar, With Gadgets Still On

Step 1: With the Sidebar open and Gadgets running, drag each Gadget off the Sidebar and drop it somewhere on your desktop.
Step 2: Right-click the + icon at the top of the Sidebar and select Close Sidebar.

The Sidebar will close to the System Tray, while the Gadgets remain on your desktop.
