Rs. 1.5 billion for vehicles for SAARC summit

Rs. 1.5 billion has been allocated for vehicles for the upcoming SAARC summit from a toal estimated expenditure of over Rs 2.8 billion, according to the suplementary estimate for the summit tabled by Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama in Parliament Tuesday.
The bulk of the money, nearly Rs2.1 billion will go the Police Department while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will get around Rs 354 million, the Colombo Municipal Council around Rs 222 million and the venue of the conference – the BMICH – around Rs 123 million.
Accommodation costs will range around Rs 52 million, entertainment around Rs 56 million, cultural activities Rs 7.5 million hiring of requirements Rs 11.9 million and gifts which would cost around Rs 1.2 milion.
The Minister said that no savaging can be expected under any of the existing projects of the Ministry and therefore the total amount budgeted under this supplementary estimate is required for the successful conclusion of the SAARC summit.
Of the estimate which as approved by Cabinet , the bulk of the amount of around Rs 2.4 billion will got for capital expenditure while the rest will be for recurrent expenses.
The SAARC summit will be held in Colombo from July 27 to August 3.

do they actually have to spend so much???
they can spend money like water for these stuff but cant give a pay hike to the employees who are doing all the work!!
