Rs. 80000 Internet Bill

(Lanka-e-News, August 20, 2009, 7.50PM) It was revealed in Parliament yesterday (19Aug) , by JVP M.P. Gamini Ratnayake that the Ceylon electricity Board (CEB) Chairman’s internet bill for last month was a colossal Rs. 80,000.00 !

The CEB had also to foot the Chairman’s Ambepussa rest house Bill owed by him to the rest House . The CEB Chairman had also purchased 26 Jeeps at Rs. 7.5 million and allotted three of them for himself , Mr.Ratnayake further alleged. He also accused the DGM as collecting two salaries from two places .

The M.P. making further disclosures told Parliament that, the Company established by the Govt. under Lanka Call power (Pvt). has been registered under the Registrar to circumvent Auditor general’s supervision.

Me, working in the telecom... (thank god they cant find out who i am lol) checked his bills once seeing this news and it is all bull crap... I cannot disclose the amount of the bill, but it was no where close to this amount.... infact I'll just state that the whole phone bill was less than 20,000 Anyone in the field of telecommunication knows that there is absolutely no way of having an expenditure of 80,000 for internet LOL... And This chairman worked in Telecom before, where he was the DGM of Kurunegala... and he has a reputation for being a person who is dedicated to his work and anyone who knows him would know that he isn't the sort of person who would misuse public funds... From what i've heard he is a chartered engineer and was asked to become the Chairman OF the CEB in order to save it from its present state... and knowing his caliber... I'm sure that he would do this job without haste... And as for the vehicles... I honestly think its all bull... cuz I've seen him use a 5 year old Hyundai santafe ... and was actually surprised to see that a chairman of such a prestigious company in sri lanka use such a modest vehicle...

Common guys Its kinda obvious that there is no way it can cost 80,000rs. Just because some one politician said it that does not mean its true! After all can you trust our politicians?
