Both super powers learnt their bitter lessons (USA in Afghanistan, Iraq and Vietnam Russia in Afghanistan and Chechnya). Both countries had to bow down to technically inferior  "savages" .  Never forget that how you fight, not who or what you fight with, matters, you may have shiniest technologies in your arsenal but if you deploy them incorrectly you are bound to loose  . So it boils down to the ability, tactics and OP art of  ground forces commanders. </blockquote>
