New Galaxy Note 7 units will have boxes with a giant “S” mark on them to indicate that they’re “safe”. At least they’re there to indicate that they’re the “new” units and not the recalled ones that many fear have defective, potentially explosive batteries embedded in them.
But just in case anyone else needs to know that your Note 7 won’t explode, say while you’re at the security check-in before catching a flight out, there’s another sign that your phone will flash to communicate that it’s a goodie: the battery indicator.
Instead of a white fill, new units will have software showing it with green juice. Yep, easily mimicked software will keep worries at bay. It might also take suckers for a spin on the internet marketplaces, so watch out for those, too.
ZDNet reports about 400,000 Korean units will have to be replaced over the course of next week and that inventory will be sent out in time for Monday, September 19, the same day that other countries will be prepared. Coincidentally for us, it’s the first working day after the country’s observance of Thanksgiving.
