Supporters of the UNP who attended a meeting MP Sajith Premadasa came under attack in Walasmulla a shortwhile back, police said.
Mr Premadasa's vehicle also has been damaged, but he was few yards away from the vehicle when the UNP supporters came under attack.
The incident occured soon after UNP election meeting took place in Wlasmulla town.
"The UNP supporters were attacked and even media personnel were assaulted by the mobs", a UNP spokesman said.
