A New York City Police boat stands by the remains of N106US in the Hudson River. The afternoon before, operating as US Flight 1549 from LGA to CLT, the aircraft experienced dual engine failure, believed caused by bird strikes shortly after departing LGA. The flight crew was able to successfully ditch the A320 into the Hudson River alongside Manhattan. A quick response by the local water taxi company, along with others, resulted in the rescue of all 155 passengers and crew!
