Holding the device in the left corner was causing the iPhone 4 to lose signal strength, which forced Apple to send out rubber bumpers to owners of the phone. Referring to handsets like the Motorola DROID X, which sported a humungous (at the time) 4.3 inch display, Jobs famously said that "No one is going to buy a big phone."
