The Major General has since been angry withthe General.Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa knew of this rift and usedMajor General Manawadu for several operations against General Fonseka.It was Major General Manawadu who also played the role of CommandingOfficer in “Operation Trans Asia.”A senior Ministary Polcie officer who had walked in to the office had informedthe general that he had received orders to arrest him. The General hadresponded saying that he could not be arrested. Major General Manawaduhad walked into the room and shouted at the Military Police personnelto arrest the General saying, “What are you fellows looking at dragthis fellow by his neck.” Seeing the General’s Secretary in the room,the Major General had said, “Here is the other fellow. Take him aswell.”The Military Police that arrested General Sarath Fonseka has also arrested his Secretary Senaka Arnold Haripriya Silva.Commanding Officer of the Army’s Colombo Division Major General SumithManawadu had ordered the Military Police personnel who carried out thearrest.The Military Police had forcibly entered into General Fonseka’s officewhere he was at a discussion with several political leaders.</blockquote>
