Silva speaking at a human rights function today (Dec 19) at the BMICH said the judiciary stands firmly above partisan politics, though a determination of the Supreme Court had been dragged into a political tussle.  "Today I saw rows of people standing in queues at petrol sheds. I felt sorry for that situation and thought I am also responsible in a way for that situation. But I must say, we have made all those determinations outside partisan politics." the CJ said.Adding that four rulings were made in regard to the issue, at the very first determination on 28th November, the bench of Supreme Court judges had very clearly said that this is a national issue and therefore this has to be viewed independent of partisan politics."All three judges have signed on that. We will not be party to politics."
