The four are D.D. Ranjith de Silva, Victor Corea, Sanath Pushpakumara and Sangeetha Kumara.

The SPA statement said the men were executed for robbing a number of businesses at gunpoint.

The four were convicted of armed robbery in October 2005. Subsequently on March 10, 2006, High Court Judge Abdul Aziz Al-Musaikri confirmed the verdict pronouncing all four guilty and sentenced them to death. During the trial, it was proved that the accused had committed three robberies, and were caught pretending to be municipal workers while driving a municipal vehicle.

The vehicle had been stolen and the driver of the vehicle, a Bangladeshi, who was working for the municipality through a contracting company, had been shot and left permanently injured.

Following the verdict in March last year, the Sri Lankan Embassy sought clemency for the men on humanitarian grounds.

The mission's appeal was supported with letters from the next-of-kin of the accused. During their detention in Al-Hair jail last year, the four men also embraced Islam.

This is just utter stupid law!!! There is no doubt....... they MUST be punished, but why kill them brutally like this?

Victor Corea one of the persons who's been executed has a family and 2 kids which aged 5 and 10.. now the family is in total disarray

Ranjith de Silva was looking after his elderly mother aged 72 also has no income now!

Exactly!!

It seems it is legal to kill people who are guilty of crimes (even robbing) according to the so called "Islamic Law" in SA!

But I guess this so called "Islamic Law" never interfere when all those Sri Lankan women were raped, tortured by their Pervert Masters!!!

Sri Lankan's have been working for these kind of pervert b@sdards for generations just to make small amount of money and make their country rich!!

This is how they pay back!!
