Girl's body found in well

Police found the body of a 12- year-old girl who was allegedly raped and killed on Thursday night in Ambalangoda.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said S. P. Nisansala was allegedly raped and thrown to an abandoned well after being murdered.

"Nisansala's body was found on Thursday night. She was a resident of Thalgasgoda, Ambalangoda," he added.

The 19-year-old suspect who is in custody is allegedly, involved in another rape case," SSP Gunasekera told the Daily News.

Ambalangoda police are investigating.

Meanwhile, a female employer of a bank has been reported missing since Thursday in Gonahena, Kadawatha.

SSP Gunasekera said that the 22-year-old woman an employee of a private bank was on her way home on Thursday.

Her father had called asking her to get off at Punchi Borella and wait for him as he will pick her. While she was waiting, her uncle had phoned and instructed her to take a three wheeler and go home, as it was not safe.

"She has been missing since and the parents had lodged a complaint at the Borella police," he added.

The missing woman had lodged a complaint at the Welikada police the day before she went missing noting that she is receiving threatening e-mails from a boy, SSP Gunasekera said.

Welikada and Borella police are investigating.
