Heavily armed police and security force personnel including riot squads have been deployed in several areas in and around Kolonnawa following today’s gun battle that left four persons dead and at least another 12 injured.
The police and security force personnel had fanned out in Gothatuwa, Mulleriya, Angoda, Wellampitiya and Himbulana regarded as hot spots for violence.
A senior policeman said that the dusk to dawn police curfew was now been strictly enforced and residents have been repeatedly advised to remain indoors.
