Select Your XI For The Semis & (Hopefully) The Finals

Name ur sri lankan xi 4 da crunch games, heres myn..........
1. Upul Tharanga
2. Sanath Jayasuriya
3. Kumar Sangakkara
4. Mahela Jayawerdene
5. Marvan Atapattu
6. Chamara Silva
7. Tillakaratne Dilshan
8. Chaminda Vaas
9. Lasith Malinga
10. Muttiah Muralitharan
11. Dilhara Fernando

dere r a few tings 2 luk at here. i wud persist wit taranga cos he has a feel of sum of da confitions in da caribean, and as v saw in a few games, our top ordr has sufrd most, whras mahela and chamar hav bin in admirable form, thus the emergence of marvan. dilshan has bin strikin da bal wel and has playd a few cameos in da final stages of da innings, so he wud b a bit mor efectiv a position lowr, at no. 7, a position wich arnold hasnt realy blosomd in. i knw dere wud b debate abt marvans choice, but i wud tink an out of practice marvan is probably betr dan a not in such gud form arnold. and da xclusion of maharoof myt lose sri lanka dat fire powr in da depth, but den dilshan bats a position lower and marvan cums in, so dat wud take care of it, i hope........
da chances of da selectors goin dis way are very rare, astrological real, but dis is a place of opinions, and dis 1s mine, so now, hav urs!..........

I wont give another chance for Tharanga he was given plenty of chances to prove but failed. (Feel Sorry for him but this is a do or die game). And also I don't think he would fancy his chances against fiery Shane Bond with his current form. And I wont include Tharanga and Marvi both in the team because if both fails then we would be in trouble. Theres no reason to drop Arnold just because he failed in that OZ game he has done pretty well in the tournament so far.. He haven't had much chances to bat..

Here's mine, I think its about time we give a break to Tharanga, he has been an excellent opener, but like all batsmen he is going through a rough patch. So if I were the selectors, I'd rather replace him with Atapattu... against NZ Marven averages almost 38 and against AUS he averages 29 in his last 5 encounters.

So far we've seen that the only weakness in our team is batting, if you see AUS batting against the NZ the other day the way their batters did the job was superb everyone came in and scored more than 30 very quickly.

So I think we should keep Russul Arnold in, because he didn't do badly at all in this world cup so far, infact he rescued SL couple of times he may not be averaging high but that's because of the position he bats!!!

In bowling it shouldn't be a problem, we've got 3 pacemen and 2 good spinners and some part-timers

According to these stats Arnold haven't done too bad, infact his average is 34+ in this world cup batting @ number 5 so I think it is acceptable!! And he is a good part time bowler and a good fielder, also took 2 wickets against AUSSIES!!!

Other thing to note is that he's got 4 not outs in 9 matches!!!

Ya thats right we should stick with Arnold.. But one thing I'm not sure about is that Marvan's inclusion.. Considering the way that selections have gone so far I wont be surprise to see Tharanga again in the Semis.. We have to wait and see..

MARVAN IS A OPTION FOR THARANGA. BUT I WUD PREFER LETTING MARVAN BAT FIRST IN DA SEMI's SO THAT HE GETS A PRACTISE IN DA MATCH. AFTER DAT HE SHUD ALSO B PUT IN DA FINAL's SQUAD!

Exactly.... that's something we need to think, if we wanna continue with Tharanga we have to continue with him all the way.. if in the semi he fails again it would be difficult for Marven to come right away in a final and perform, that also against AUSSIES..

And if we wanna replace Tharanga we'll have to do in the Semis.. so that at least he'll have some confidence before the finals!!!

All in all, its a gamble the team must take!!!

Letting marvan in wit shane bond wit da new bal, wit no games behinf him, now dats absolute suicide. evry1 knws hes susceptibl 2 da swinging bal, and hes a very vulnerabl startr. he shud b used at no. 5 cos if 3 wkts fal 4 nly a handful of runs, den he cud sit bak and play dat cahracteristic long marvan inings. and da nly reasn 4 arnold 2 go is his inability 2 go aftr da bowling. and bating at no. 7 (not no. 5 pata) u need 2 b abl 2 smash em sumwhat, and arnold is mor a touch playr...

Quite surprising, murali up the order. I thought that he would be a good foil to sanath since he is also a pinch hitter!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Anywayz......Marvan would be a better choice than Upul cos he is a big match player....and besides, some mite say he is rusty, but Upul isnt in good form either....besides i think sanath will feel more confident cos he is teaming up with a good friend and a more familiar opening partner.....since they both are very experienced they will be able to bat more sensibly.....

Hope moody and mahela see my preferred batting order and put murali at the very top!:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

I didn't sort my list according to the batting order jst named the 11. Nw arnolds position might have to be reconsidered if wkts go early he should come before dilshan.. otherwise dilshan should come before arnold in final ovs..
