Well we won at last. But the odd thing in this tournament for me is the team who won the toss always won.The great Indian team as they say now, were struggling to face our spinners today.Imagine what would have happened if we bowled second in the day and night games.Even Uvaraj Singh spun the bowl a great deal. So who were the better side out of these two? For me we still don't know because really they haven't been tested. So who was to blame? The pitch maker is the one. Of course the result would have gone the the other way around if Mahela had won the tosses. But since it hadn't what has happened now?Mendis got smashed all around the park, all the good confidence we got after winning the pakistan series will be gone, team members will be in a dissaray.I think Sri Lanka Cricket have more responsibility when preparing pitches.
I watched the matches from Neo Cricket. The Indians were really happy that they are smashing Mendis.Just think a moment that Mendis will be the future of Sri Lankan Bowling attack. What will happen to his confidence now?

JUST A REMINDER THE INDIAN SPINNERS SPUN THE BALL A LONG WAY DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT MATCHES.THE GREATEST SPINNER OF ALL TIME COULDN'T DO IT BECAUSE THE HOME PITCH WAS NOT IN HIS SIDE.

we were simply unlucky to loose the toss all the 3 days.........of day and nights.....

But the blame must go to to the pitch creator,That is my point

Well I watch all 5 matches from A-Z this time, and to me it was crystal clear what has happened out there!

Especially in those 3 D/N matches played in Premadasa Stadium.

2nd ODI - India just passed 250 and we missed it narrowly, that should have won!

3rd ODI - Over 350  Just forget it... The pictch at Premadasa was spinning like hell at night you can JUST forget about getting to 300 batting second especially at night, and over 350 is already demoralizing enough!!

    4th ODI
    - Same story!

5th ODI - WE WON THE TOSS!!! And the rest of the story was the same except this time around the India were at the receiving end!

    Few things to remember!

    1. India out played Sri Lanka.. no 2 words about it.. India was the better team!

    2. They came prepared for Mendis. it worked... but not as much as it is hyped by the Indians  Mendis is not a big spinner and he didn't get any help from the pitch at all, the only day he got assistance from it was today and today was the only day we won the toss and did what should have done, BATTING FIRST!!.. so you see the connection!

    2. Any team can crumble under pressure no matter what divine form they are in.. like what happened to India today.

    3. Arun Lal got his answer today, LMAO  As to why Sri Lanka never had a plan against Indian spinners batting second, just like what happened to his favorite team.. its never easy chasing 300!!

Ranatunga blames poor administration for defeat

    Sa'adi Thawfeeq

Arjuna Ranatunga feels the pitches for the ongoing ODI series were not prepared to suit the home spinners © Cricinfo Ltd

Former captain Arjuna Ranatunga has ruled out Sri Lanka's chances of another World Cup win if "unprofessional" officials continued to run the game in the country. Ranatunga, who led Sri Lanka to their only World Cup triumph in 1996, blamed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) administrators for the team's series defeat to India and cited unsporting pitches as the reason for the ineffectiveness of the home spinners.

"People who run cricket here don't know anything about cricket. Do you think they love the game? No," Ranatunga said in Colombo. "I think we will never be able to win the World Cup if things do not change. Winning it will remain a dream. I don't know who runs cricket today. We should not panic, but have to act swiftly."

Ranatunga said matters needed to change immediately. "Winning it [a World Cup] will remain a dream. I don't know who runs cricket today. We should not panic, but have to act swiftly."

In December Ranatunga, 45, was sacked as chairman of SLC's interim committee after 11 months in the office, with sports minister Gamini Lokuge saying a change was necessary. The immediate issue was the sacking of 16 SLC employees by Ranatunga the week before.

Ranatunga felt Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis were not given helpful conditions for the ongoing five-match series. "We have two very good spinners but the wickets suited the opposition more. Unfortunately, there were no turning tracks," he said. "We are one of the most talented cricketing nations in the world. I blame some of those unprofessional people who have been running the game."

Ranatunga has been a vocal critic of the IPL, once comparing Twenty20 once to instant noodles, and antagonised the Indian board by stating that India lost the first Test to Sri Lanka in July 2008 because they played too much Twenty20 cricket. Ties between the Sri Lankan and Indian cricket boards became strained following Ranatunga's aggressive stance against the IPL. Senior BCCI officials subsequently made it known to their Sri Lankan counterparts that bilateral ties would improve only if Ranatunga was removed.

Ranatunga has now said it was a matter of prioritising for the Sri Lankan players and that he had no problems with the BCCI or with players choosing to participate in the IPL. "We want players to earn more money, but they should know how to make money," he said. "Players should realise what their priority is. I always said 'Country before yourself. Country before money'.

"My aim was to protect Sri Lankan cricket and put it on the right track. Yes, I am not a great believer of Twenty20 game. I am a traditional guy and prefer Test and one-dayers."

I don't think many of you who have posted replies here had read my article fully.
My point here is that the pitch maker should have made a more of a balanced one.So we could see a real match.

Beri kamath thiyenawa. Apita Dhoni, Yuvaraj, Sehwag wage playersla nene. Ewunata palaweni maches deka dinanna thibuna. We loss the second match coz Kandamby took a run when Murali was dropped.
First one was loss because of slow run rate. "sanga bola kewane"

Ewunata pitches nam hondai machan. If Mahela had won the toss and batted first m & m cld have turned the bowl like the Indian spinners.

Don't forget machanzz we only had close wins against ZIMs and Bans in slow and low pitches. But won against pakistan easily in fast and bouncy wickets.

The only thing mahela had to do in this series was to win the toss and bat first.

you know ppl ,after reading this i think Arjuna was right.Wht had IPL lead us into?More talented Indian youngsters and abroad players whose tricks can be read.

But i must say I do not agree with these sort of pitches in Sri Lanka
