CPAP machines do work. No question about it. But it might take some time to get used to it.
People with sleep apnea, have difficulty to keep airways open for normal breathing when asleep. In many cases, the soft tissues in the oral cavity and the throat relax and/or collapse, closing off the airways. This results in breaks of breathing that can deprive your oxygen needs.
When the brain detects this it makes you wake up. A CPAP machine helps to keep these pauses in breathing from occurring by supplying continuous positive air pressure to avoid the obstructions.
In fact there are several variants of PAP therapy.....They are
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
Automatic positive airway pressure (APAP)
Bilevel, or variable positive airway pressure (VPAP)
