June 13, 2008 (LBO) – Sri Lankan celco Dialog, a unit of Telekom Malaysia said it had partnered with AeroMobile to provide in-flight mobile communications, becoming the first in the region to do so.
"Dialog Telekom has achieved the distinction of being the first operator in the region to partner with AeroMobile..," the company said in a statement Friday.
In March, UK-based AeroMobile announced a partnership with Dubai-based Emirates. An Airbus A340-300 aircraft operated by Emirates became the first commercial airliner to be fitted with the system.
Dialog says its subscriber could now make calls or send text messages in aircraft with the AeroMobile system.
