Sri Lanka Telecom Ltd. A body of the Government of Sri Lanka Confermed that users of Unlimited Accounts that download "heavy" has been kicked out of there high speed bandwidth.
On 4th of January 2011, my Sri Lanka Telecom Unlimited Home Package ADSL internet line slowed down from decent 30Kbps to 8Kbps. I have made various complains to the Sri Lanka Telecom 1243 but till now they have not responded. And until now they have not told that Sri Lanka Telecom has KICKED OUT Unlimited users from the Shared Bandwidth lines.
I run my Catholic Church website www.queenofangels.lk and my private software website www.chiranthasoft.com both which are slowed down to usable speeds of 8Kbps..
Today I contacted the Sri Lanka Telecom - SERVER ROOM on 0112543085. They called me back and confirmed that I have been marked as a HEAVY USER and been limited internet access to the world wide web.
Further more, Sri Lanka Telecom is using a software called akamai to give some files at full speed to users. Which why people cannot complain saying line is slow... because it is sometimes fast because of Akamai...
What is Akamai? it is a server software that mirrors data from other servers. So basically the websites you are viewing are not from the Internet but from the SLT local servers.
Why are we paying Internet Access when they are providing local access??
I contacted the Sirasa TV (I cannot view there website as well, it take like 2 minutes for Elakiri to load).. File downloading is next to impossible.
Please tell ALL your friends of the problem... SLT has shamed our country.
Contact the TRC on 1900 (Telecom lines) to inform them of the unfairness SLT has caused.
I bought a new SERVER because I thought that my church website server was at fault... who is going to compensate for these damages? $56USD down the drain!!! Someone Please Translate this to Sinhala... Tell all your friends in the Media also.
