My parents have SLT Fiber connection. SLT provided router's WiFi performance is really poor so I wanted to change the router to TP-Link AC 1800 model.

Is it possible to put SLT router into modem mode (bridge mode) and use our own router?

I have PPPoE login details so it's a matter of putting SLT router into modem mode but unfortunately settings are restricted.

    Any help .

    out of fucked up land
doesn't the access point has an ethernet port for the WAN connection? I have the same setup where the ISP provided router is just for the connection with the ISP and everything else (LAM/WiFi) is managed by my own router

So basically you're using your own router in a AP mode

Do you have peo TV as well? Is it connected to your own router or SLT provided one?

Modem mode is better and you can manage everything from your own router.

Can be done.. found the pwd from this forum itself.. you have to put the SLT router to Gateway mode.. then setup PPPoE on Tplink router and then setup the pwd there..

That's what I'm planning to do . Put SLT to modem mode and then setup my own router with PPPoE details.

don't think so. if then they'll lost remote management capabilities. just bridge two routers & turn off wifi from slt one.

Why do you want to do such a mess.

Just use SLT router for the Fiber connection and use the LAN cable to connect it with your TP-Link Router's WAN Port.

    Simple as that.

I tried something similar a while back. Connected SLT ZTE Fibre router and my old DLink ADSL router via an ethernet cable, changed few settings in the Dlink, and I could use both routers to connect to Internet. Purpose was to extend WiFi range without buying a new WiFi range extender. It worked.
