It turns out that she pretended to be ill to separate herself from Chloe. Why? It turns out that Moira was iiradiated during the meteor shower and has super brain powers of her own. Lex takes her away from the asylum with hopes of using Moira's powers for his own gain. He forces her to use her powers against two of his captive super-freaks, Alexi and Davidson, who have the powers to create orbs of energy and walk through walls, respectively.Moira despises Lex and mind-controls Alexi and Davidson to use them to kill Lex.Our own commentary here: Wouldn't Chloe have uncovered this information about her mother before now? And why was her mother in Smallville in 1989? All things will be explained...in due time...Davidson hurts Lana, who is taken to the Smallville Medical Center and tells Clark not to worry, that she has miscarried the baby anyway.
