chinese are known to have copied many technologies over the years and it wouldn't be a surprise if they didn't copy this, even thought chip making a such a complex process.
but if chinese chip manufacturers enter global markets with good products it may bring down the cost of chips, provided the west doesn't impose trade embargos on them or other underhand tactics
