This is the reality; it is complete chaos. Even well-established companies are struggling and straying from their roots.

Meta Llama was the biggest thing that happened to researchers like us, as they were the first to open-source a big LLM from a notable company. While we were reading for the PhD, we knew that GPT3 was being developed, but the developers were not transparent about not open-sourcing it; then Meta changed everything.

However, they are also moving towards a close form. This is mainly because the good old days of the software industry are fading, and everyone thinks the race to AGI is the key.

So I guess our Sei Lankan system should be changed. More and more people will be needed to do agi, for that we need people who understand Llms ans know how to build them, just working with API.

Yeah, it's time for us to move away from our confront zones. I am sure there will be a ton of new opportunities opening up.

Because atm there's a huge scarcity of AI talent. There are not enough experts.

@Draco Malfoy, I agree with you. I hold a PhD in foundation models, with a focus on the inner workings of such transformer models.

However, trust me, the entry barrier is now so low that you can learn almost anything. I am a research scientist, and even for converting mathematical concepts into code, I can utilize general AI.

My point is that anyone can enter, and we need more people in this industry.

In fact, in the valley, some so many amazing researchers come from the pure SE industry. But yeah you need basics
