A little over a month ago Sony officially unveiled the Xperia Z4 smartphone, but the device was announced only for Japan. Not long after that we heard rumors that there might be a different device in the works for the rest of the world, but evidence has been found that Sony was planning on using the Xperia Z3+ monicker for the Xperia Z4, outside of Japan.
That’s exactly what the company just did. The Sony Xperia Z3+ announced today is identical to the Japanese Xperia Z4, and a slight upgrade over the Xperia Z3 (hence the naming convention Sony opted for). Weighing 144gr. and measuring 6.9mm in thickness, the Z3+ packs the same 5.2-inch screen with Full HD resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card), 20.7 megapixel camera with a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor behind the lenses and Sony’s own BIONZ image processor, 5.1 megapixel webcam, and a 2,930mAh battery. Of course, water and dust resistance has been kept, at IP65/68.
Color options will include Black, White, Copper (available to Vodafone customers), and Ice Green (a Carphone Warehouse exclusive).
