South Africa won the Test Series against Australia
Australia has lost its first Test series on home soil in 16 years amid unconfirmed reports selectors will go with a new-look squad for the Third Test in Sydney.
Resuming at 0/30 on the fifth and final day of the match, South Africa lost just one wicket as they wrapped up the Second Test at the MCG this afternoon, which was also their first series win in Australia.
The Proteas leading strike bowler, paceman Dale Steyn was named man of the match after taking ten wickets.
South Africa captain Graeme Smith was one of the first players out onto the MCG at the conclusion of the match, running to the pitch to claim a stump as a momento of the historic result.
