    Dear friends,

Are you reluctant to pursue Dhamma thinking that it might adversely affect the day-to-day lay life?

Here's a Deshana (done sometimes back) by Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero that addressees some myths we have regarding Marga Phala; and provides general advice those pursuing Dhamma have to be aware of...

Yes, I too did not see the Deshana like: Madhupindika Sutta, Kamma Sutta, etc. elsewhere...
Even the way the MP3s are categorized like "sutta", "avabodhanathmaka" etc. is good. I think a beginner can conveniently start with: http://www.gautamabuddha.ca/SinhalaBanaAvabodaya.aspx

Why should one try to enter the Path (Margha)? What would he/she gain by it?
What if he/she dies before completing the Path? Would a person loose margha phala already gained?

Listen to the following Deshana (based on Suttas) to find out more...

    Saupadisesa Sutta:

    Alagaddupama Sutta:

This is fantastic. Thank you ! A lot of people have been "brain programmed" in to believe that to achieve "sovan' you must give up everything and hit the jungle. "
This type of deshana is superb to get people to meditate on a day-to-day basis balancing career, family, relationships etc. well done and we really appreciate your effort.

The myths are because of the unfortunate situation Buddhism has been for last couple of centuries... So unfortunate that people were made to believe Arya Ashtangika Magga cannot be followed among the household chores...

We've heard from our childhood the stories of Anatha Pidika Situ thuma, Vishaka Upasikawa, etc. Did it ever occur to us what they had achieved? or the fact that we can follow suit?

Personally I was blind to the aim of Dhamma until last year... And it never occurred to me before that all four Shrawaka groups of Sammasambuddha Gautama: Bikkhu, Bikkuni, Upasaka, and Upasika were following the same Path.

Things are changing :) with the revival we are seeing in practicing Dhamma. Gone are the days (at least for the moment) when lay people were blind to Dhamma; when lay people were satisfied of hearing just the Jathaka Stories.

How fortunate we are to be born in an era of revival of practicing Dhamma? Shouldn't we strive to make most of it? (because it may not last long and we might not live long...)

    Theruwan saranai!

    Dear friends,

This is a link to a Deshana on "Sarakani Sutta" disclosed about the death of Sarakani Shakya. He was known to be an alcoholic, yet pronounced Sothapanna on death by Sammasambuddha Gauthama.

    http://www.gautamabuddha.ca/bana/sinhala/069_Sarakani_Sutta.mp3

This incident is used even today by people without Shraddha to distort & insult Dhamma. But it explains what being Sothapanna is...

In addition, the deshana covers some other suttas in "Sothapanna Samyuktha".

    Theruwan saranai!
