Cabinet approval was  given for this project recently on a proposal made by President Mahinda  Rajapaksa. A seven and half acre land belonging to the Urban Development  Authority at D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha has been earmarked for this  project. The Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory  Commission Anusha Pelpita said that there will be a significant  development in the television and telecommunication sectors upon  construction of this multi functional tower, which will provide  facilities for 50 television services, 50 broadcasting services and ten  telecommunication providers. The construction of the Lotus Tower  building will cost 100 Million U.S.Dollars and it will be funded by EXIM  Bank of the Peoples Republic of China.මිටර්  350ක්‌ දිග නෙළුම් කුළුන ගොඩනැගිල්ල සහ විනෝද උද්‍යානය ඉදිකිරිමේ ගිවිසුම්  අද (03/01)අත්සන් කිරිමට නියමිතය. මෙය දකුණු ආසියාවේ උසම කුළුන වන බව  සදහන් වේ. ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්‍ෂ මහතාගේ යෝජනාවකට අනුව මෙය ඉදිකරන අතර  මේ සදහා කැබිනට්‌ අනුමැතිය පසුගිය දා හිමි විය. ඩි.ආර්. විජේවර්ධන මාවතේ  නාගරික සංවර්ධන අධිකාරියට හිමි අක්‌කර 7 1/2 ක භූමි ප්‍රමානයක මෙය ඉදි  කිරිමට කටයුතු සුදානම් කොට ඇත. සන්නිවේදන කොමිසම් සභාවේ අධ්‍යක්‍ෂ ජෙනරල්  අනුෂ පැල්පිට මහතා පවසා ඇත්තේ මෙමගින් රූපවාහිනි සහ සන්නිවේදන ක්‍ෂේත්‍රයේ  ඉතා විශාල දියුණුවක්‌ දැක ගැනිමට අවස්‌ථාව ලැබන අතර, රූපවාහිනි නාලිකා  50ක්‌, ගුවන් විදුලි නාලිකා 50ක්‌ සහ සන්නිවේසන ප්‍රවර්ධකයන් 10ක්‌ සදහා  අවශ්‍ය පහසුකම් ලබාදිමට මෙමගින් හැකියාව ලැබෙන බවය. මෙම නෙළුම් කුළුන  ඉදිකිරිම සදහා  ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 100ක්‌ වැයවන අතර චීනයේ EXIM බැංකුව  විසින් ආයෝජනය කිරිමට නියමිතය.</blockquote>
