Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today that the fight against terrorism would not be reversed on any grounds. Addressing the fourth of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) district rallies in Kegalle, the President said that the valiant soldiers have now limited the Tamil Tigers to Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts. He said that the Navy deserved the respect of the entire nation for destroying three LTTE arms ships. The President was addressing a mammoth gathering at the public grounds in Kegalla. It was the fourth in the series of meetings organised to make the public aware of the political and security situation of the country and the government’s development programmes. Further addressing the meeting he challenged the United National Party is possible to defeat the government at the forthcoming budget. He urged all teachers to solve their problems through negotiations without resorting to work stoppages and obstructing the studies of the children, who are to accept the future of the country. There is a class struggle today and some are reluctant to see a villager ruling the country. Mr. Rajapakse pointed out that he has no fear until there is a majority who have a feeling towards the country. He noted that the government had been able to take development, restricted to Colombo, to every part of the country. President Rajapakse said development of the country will continue unabated, while humanitarian operations will be successfully carried out. He assured a political solution soon to the conflict acceptable to all.      Colombo Page
