Jan 11, Colombo: Sri Lanka today rejected an offer by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to revive the recently scrapped ceasefire agreement, calling it a tactical move by the Tigers.
Defence Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that the “ground realities do not adhere to do so”.
“Rebels used the ceasefire to strengthen militarily and to continue their terrorist activities,” Minister Rambukwella said.
The government will formally pull out of the ceasefire agreement on January 16.
