Sri Lankan Rupee is not pegged to basket of currencies like other countries. US dollar is falling in the world market, Sri Lankan rupee is pegged to US Dollar, the cost of living is going to go high. From Milk, green gram to other products we import most of the goods from non US pegged currencies. We have lunatic and Corrupt Central Bank in this country. If US economy goes downward spiral then so too would Sri Lanka with it , sink in the same hole.

as far as i know the rupee is not pegged with the $, we just use the $ when multiplying other currencies, the $ however keeps on rising in Sri Lanka due to our bad economy, in the past 2 years alone the rupee has fallen about 15%. I know the euro and pound has already gained a lot against the US, but that's what world markets are for, we cannot compete with them as our rupee is an underperformer.
