Sri Lanka's envoy in China, Ambassador K.Amunugama visited Chengdu, capital of earth-quake-hit Sichuan Province to inquire into the welfare of Sri Lankan students in the Sichuan University and Sichuan Medical Faculty.
Sri Lanka Embassy's First Secretary Rohana Ambagolla accompanied the ambassador who met the students and officials of the Sichuan Foreign Affairs Office. The Sri Lankan diplomats requested the officials to make arrangements to ensure the safety and welfare of the Sri Lankan student community.
The officials assured the Ambassador Amunugama and the First Secretary that the earthquake did not affect any foreign students. The Sri Lankan students are well and safe and attending to lectures as usual.
