Sri Lankans in Kuwait celebrate the Liberation of Motherland from LTTE
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kuwait together with the Sri Lankan community had the privilege of extending their greetings and best wishes to the President His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa and armed forces for their historic victory of liberating Sri Lanka from the LTTE, at a special Anusasana conducted by the Most Ven. Aluthwewa Soratha Thero, the Chief Incumbent of the Kiriwehera Temple in Kataragama and Chancellor of the Uva Wellassa University on his visit to Kuwait for Vesak celebrations on the invitation of Foreign Minister, Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama.
Delivering a special Anusasana on 17th May on the occasion of the liberation of motherland from the 26 years of LTTE tyranny, Most Ven. Thero highly appreciated the bravery and heroism of the President H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa and that of the armed forces in defeating the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world. To mark this auspicious moment in Sri Lanka's history, Ambassador Sarath Dissanayake and the staff of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait handed over a scroll carrying a special message of appreciation to the Most Ven. Thero to be handed over to His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka.
