Jan 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Colombo Dockyard on Friday (15) delivered the MV Arabian Sea, first of a pair of passenger ships ordered by India's Administration of Union Territories of Lakshadweep.
MV Arabian Sea is the first and the largest sea going 250-passenger ship constructed in Sri Lankan maritime industry for the international market that can also carry 100 tonnes of cargo.
The vessel, built with latest technology can operate in all weathers on the route from the Indian mainland to the Lakshadweep Islands as well as inter-island routes.
Colombo Dockyard PLC, a unit of Japan's Onomichi Dockyard, is expanding its infrastructure facilities to accommodate larger vessels in keeping abreast with the current trends of new building work internationally.
