Airline alliance Oneworld has announced Sri Lanka's flag carrier SriLankan Airlines as its latest member elect during the annual general meeting in Beijing, China.
Cathay Pacific Airlines will serve as SriLankan’s sponsor, supporting the airline through the alliance implementation process.
SriLankan Airlines expected to become a full member by 2013.
Oneworld is the third largest airline alliance in the world.
Oneworld currently has eleven active members.
