Video විතරක් නෙමෙයි, audio ත් එහෙම්ම මයි. මේ ක්‍රියාවලිය හරියට file එකක් compress / extract කරනවා වගේ. හැබැයි file compress කරද්දී, video encode කරනවා වගේ, අපි analog දත්ත භාවිතා කරන්නේ නැ.Video Encode කිරීමට පෙර හෝ Decode කරන විට 01010 බයිනරි දත්ත, RAW DATA හෙවත් ‘අමු දත්ත’ බවට පත් වෙනවා. අමු දත්ත කියන්නෙ තව දුරටත් mp4,wmv,avi නෙමෙයි. Raw Data තැන්පත් කරන්න විශාල මතක ධාරිතාවයක් ඔනෑ වෙනවා, මොකද ඒවා අපිට පෙනෙන රූප. ඒවා නරඹන්න විශේෂ උපකරණ ඔනේ කරන අතර, අමු දත්ත දර්ශණය කරගන්න DECODE කර කර ඉන්න ඔනේ නම් නැ. කොහොම නමුත් අද කාලේ, raw data එකතු කරන අය නැ..ඒවා කියවන්න හරි හමං player එකක් වත් නැ. (VLC වලින් digital videos, raw data බවට, decode කරන්න පුලුවන්)අද අපි ක්රන්නෙ, රුපය නිර්මාණය වෙන අකාරයට 10101 machine language code එකක් ලියන එක.. එකටම තමා සිංහලෙන් DECODING කියලා කලින් කිව්වේ.විවිධ encoding රටා නිසා, video වල, විවිධ files sizes සහ qualities ඇති වෙනවා. උදා :mpeg4 – තරමක් විශාල, file size එකක් ඇතිවේ. කොලිටිය බලන්න පුලුවල් ගානට තියෙනවා.H.264 – කුඩා file size එකකින් හොඳ කොලිටියක් ගෙන දෙනවා. හැබැයි, decode සහ encode කරන්න processor එක පාවිච් වෙනවා සාපේක්ෂව ගොඩක් වැඩී. ඉතින් මෙව්වා, හිමිච්චං චිප් කැලි තියෙන chinese phone වල play වෙන්නේ නැ.හරි දැන් අපි එමු topic එකට,ඇපල් ගැන ඔබ නොදත් දේ…. ඉතින් මට කියන්න ඔන වුනේ, FFMpeg හැදුවේ Microsoft වත් Bill Gates මහතා වත්, Linux වලට ඊරිසියාවෙන් පොළවට වැලලී ගිය ඇපල් කුහකයා වත් නෙමෙයි.FFmpeg කියන්නේ, OpenSource Project එකක්. අද ඒකට පිං සිද්ධ වෙන්න තමයි,  අපි නොමිලේ වීඩියෝ convert කරගන්නේ. නැත්තම් මෙලහකට වීඩියෝ convert කරගන්න ඇපල් iකඩ අස්සට රිංගන්න වෙනවා.අහෝ කරුමය…. දන්නවාද, FFmpeg ඉස්සෙල්ලම හැදුවේ Linux වලට විතරයි කියලා??.  OpenSource නිසා ජාති භේදයක් බලන්නෙ නැතුව පස්සේ Windows වලටත් හදලා දුන්නා. ඒ වුනාට අද video converts සහ video production applications වැඩිම ගනනක් තියෙන්නේ, Windows වලට.  ඒ සියල්ලම FFmpeg පාධක වැඩසටහන්… ඒ වුනාට Linux community එකට එක ගැන ප්‍රශ්නයක් තිබ්බේ නැ, මොකද Linux වලට වල කපන්න ඉන්න සත්‍ය හතුරා Microsoft වත් Bill Gates වත් නෙම්යි… ඇපල් සමාගම. Skype, Microsoft ලාගේ වෙලත්, පෝයට හඳ පායනකොට හරි Linux Skype Update එක එවනවා….. ඒත් Apple??  Safari Web Browser එකයි, iPhone/iPad/iPod/AppleTV අයිති කරුවෙකුවෙකුට අනිවාර්යයෙන් ඔනෑ කරන iTunes Software වල Linux සංස්කරණය හදන එක Steve Jobbs නැවැත්තුවේ ඇයි? ලිනක්ස් වල නිර්මාතෘට ‘Linux හදන එක අත ඇරලා, මාගාව වැඩට වරෙන්, මම හොඳට ගෙවන්නම්’ යැයි කීවේ කුමකට භීතියෙන්ද?
