Chinanews, Beijing, Jan. 31 – Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has gained increasing popularity in international market these days. However, according to Lv Jiage, son of a renowned TCM doctor, Lv Bingkui, the trademarks of over 1,000 traditional Chinese medicines have been registered by foreign countries. In Japan, some people try to call traditional Chinese medicine “the Japanese medicine.” The United States has spent considerable money in TCM research and development. In Australia, Singapore, South Korea and India, TCM is viewed as an industry with strategic importance and these countries have devoted a lot of money and human resources to its development, Ban Yue Tan magazine reported. Liu Yanwen,a professor from the Hubei Traditional Chinese Medicine Institute, says that nowadays, many countries have put away their prejudice against traditional Chinese medicine, especially after the SARS outbreak, when traditional Chinese medicine had proven to be more effective than Western medicine in treating the disease. Experts in the international medical circle realise that medicines made with chemical substances have more side effects. In future, the United States will substantially reduce the production of chemical medicines and shift its efforts to producing more TCM medicines and biopharmaceuticals. All this should serve a warning to China about the need to attach more importance to traditional Chinese medicine. As the home country of TCM, China has actually lagged behind foreign countries in its research and promotion of TCM,moncler, which boasts a history of well over 5,000 years. A research team on the stratigic development of TCM at the China Science and Technology Information Research Institute recently did a survey about TCM development in China. The survey shows that while Chinese population has expanded from 500 million to 1.3 billion in the past five decades, the number of people working in TCM field has reduced from 500,000 in 1949 to less than 276,000 at present. Even among these 276,000 people, only 30,000 can diagnose and treat diseases with TCM theories. At present, most people who understand TCM therapies are above 50 years old. It can be said that traditional Chinese medicine will be on the verge of extinction in China if nothing is done to change the situation. 相关的主题文章: Somali Pirates Release Italian Tugboat Competitions Encourage Innovators to Tackle Tough Challenges 卧龙副公安局长最后任务:带出60张平安纸条 Last month the head of Fifa Sepp Blatter wrote to Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to express concern over delays in the construction of stadiums and infrastructure for the World Cup.
