guys..my kid (age 09 years) is asking for a telescope.. I checked few in MD Gunasena...Also there is a company called S & T group, they also have several models.


My budget is about twenty five thousand.



please help me on below area.


1. With my kid's age which type on telescope is better?
2. whats the difference between reflector and refractor and which is better..?
3. Buying on-line (out of SL) is agood idea..?

go for a manual one (Not Goto)it will teach your kid to navigate the night sky

2. whats the difference between reflector and refractor and which is better..?
Reflecter is better
Dobsonian mount is easy to use.
the higher the aperture, the better the viewing
go for at least 6". - the higher the aperture, more expensive the telescope

3. Buying on-line (out of SL) is a good idea..?
I bought my telescope via amazon - but through a third party
